01 Mission Objective

Master High-Performance Commercial Flight Deck Demands

The Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with Multi-Engine Land (MEL) rating is the mandatory regulatory milestone enabling aviators to act as Pilot in Command (PIC) of an aircraft for compensation or hire. Thrust Flight Academy’s program is modeled after airline-oriented flight training (LOFT) environments, preparing cadets directly for regional jet initial operating experience.

Commercial PIC Privileges

Full FAA 14 CFR §61.129 commercial operating rights for single-engine and multi-engine land aircraft without flight radius limitations.

Complex & High Altitude

Endorsements for retractable gear, constant-speed propellers, and pressurized high-altitude cross-country routes above FL250.

Asymmetric Multi-Engine Thrust

Master Vmc critical engine failures, single-engine drift-down maneuvers, zero sideslip flight profiles, and feathering procedures in the PA-44.

Crew Resource Management (CRM)

Airline standard operating procedures (SOPs), sterile cockpit disciplines, and automated flight mode annunciator management.

02 Candidate Prerequisites Checklist
Minimum 18 years of age at checkride date
Current FAA 1st or 2nd Class Medical
FAA Private Pilot License with Instrument Rating
Proficient in FAA English Aviation Standard

03 Syllabus Breakdown

Structured 4-Phase Flight Curriculum

Engineered under FAA Part 141 Appendix D guidelines to maximize airmanship precision and eliminate checkride ambiguity.

Steep Turns with 50-55° Bank Angles. Chandelles: Maximum Climb Performance Turns. Lazy Eights: Energy Transformation Curves. Eights-on-Pylons & Pivotal Altitude Calculations. Power-Off 180° Accuracy Landings (±200 ft). Accelerated & Secondary Stall Recognition.
Extended cross-country flight planning across multiple airspace classes, night currency operations, pilotage and dead-reckoning navigation, and diversion decision-making under simulated system failures.
Twin-engine systems management, Vmc demonstrations, single-engine approach and landing procedures, and asymmetric thrust emergency drills in the full-motion Redbird FMX simulator.
Formal mock checkride with a Thrust Chief Instructor, FAA Airman Certification Standards (ACS) oral exam review, and final endorsement sign-off for the FAA practical test.
